02/12/24    Hi guys,So I want to marry my Brazilian partner in Brazil so I can live with him here. But I don't understand the procedure, websites really don't give me proper info on the steps we should take, and I only have 2 months of my tourist visa left. Can someone please advice me on the steps I should take to legally marry him?        -@elanazari

Welcome!  With only two months left, you're in a very difficult spot.  You have two steps:

1 . Get married.  I assume from the way your question is phrased that you are currently in Brazil.  If so, you and your partner need to go to the local registry office, the cartório, ASAP to find out exactly what will be required to get married.  The reason that you need to do this quickly is because cartórios generally require a waiting period of up to 30 days between the issue of the marriage license and the actual wedding, so you need to have that started while you work on other things.  This site will give you general guidance on what's required for a foreigner to marry in Brazil, but every cartório has its own approach, so it's important to contact the one where you'll be married for details.  Your partner can read it in Portuguese, and you can run it through a translator to get the gist:

2 . Apply for residency at the Federal Police after your wedding.  This thread will tell you the required documents:

Iran is not a signatory of the Apostille Convention.  If your some, most, or all of your documents are from Iran, and have not been legalized at the Brazilian Embassy in Tehran, then you have an additional problem, both with the cartório and with the Federal Police.  You and  your partner should contact a Brazilian attorney with experience, or at least knowledge, in immigration matters to help you.

Brazil does not have "Fiancé Visas".  If your visa is a multiple-visit visa, then your best option would be to go home while you still have time available on your visa, get your documents current and legalized, and return prepared.

If your visa is a single-visit visa and you believe that it would be difficult for your to obtain another in visa in order to return to Brazil, then your next best option is to consult a Brazilian attorney to determine whether you have other possibilities.  You should avoid overstaying your visa without permission from the Federal Police:  doing that will  only complicate your situation further.
