Can an employer ask his employee to give more than 60 days notice period to resign from his job?

Yes Sometimes yes if the employee's role is crucial to the employer and the employee is doing a good job. There is a cost involved in recruiting a new resource as well as training them who may take some time to get to the speed. It may take 2-3 candidates to try for a position before the right candidate is found. Hence, an employer may ask an employee to increase notice period or as well may hike the salary and ask to withdraw resignation.  That's good for the employee.

Something similar to this happened while I worked in USA for a company for 5+ yrs in a role. They asked to extend notice/take a salary hike/as well as work from home for an extended duration if withdrawing resignation not possible due to some circumstances
