From an A card to an F card

hssn601

Hello!

I tried searching through all old threads but couldn’t find the right answer. I would like to ask if anyone has switched from an A card to an F card.

Our situation is that I obtained Belgian nationality six months ago, but my wife is still on an A card. Can she already apply for an F card?

We live in Antwerp, and the commune website is not clear enough. When I tried to apply for an F card there, the only option available was for cases where the spouse has just joined the applicant. However, in reality, my wife has been here for almost five years, is already registered, and holds an A card.

I think the question to address your scenario should be: While you were both on A cards(before you became a citizen), did you do the family reunion procedure to regularise your marriage/family at your commune?

Yes, She can apply for F card (being spouse of EU/BE national). Check with the commune for the list of documents and submit the application.

Checked their website no information available, do you mean go there and ask them?

Ask them for the documents required to request F card for your wife. There is no question of IF YOU CAN APPLY. Your wife IS eligible to apply. If that means, going there and getting all information, that should be fine for you as well.
