My friend, the secret to downloading the DR Driver's Manuals is protected more carefully than the true location of the Fort Knox Gold!

We could find no way to download it prior to getting our temporary permits.  Fortunately, the McGhee's somehow managed to have a copy, and shared it with me. I'd be glad to send it to you.

Please send me a DM with your email address (you can't post email addresses in the forum) and I'll be glad to send the manuals to you, as well.

Best

Jim

No thanks.  Not the way this works.

You've been here for siz months and made 20 posts.  You've not convinced me you're not some sort of conniving.

I've been here for years, many posts. Well reviewed.  Credible.

If you can't take the first step, there won't be a second.

So everyone understands, until you have a certain level of activity, you cannot access private messages.  This helps manage spam.

@planner

Thanks for the info.  I guess I'm stuck between safety and service.

Pretty sure sharing your email with someone who wants a copy of drivers manual isn't a big risk. However, send the manual to me and I will forward it.

I understand the perspective, Planner.  I would have agreed with you prior to my own identity theft incident about 5-6 years ago now.  They had everything... only an astute security team at USAA, and a very early intervention, saved our bacon.

I just have boundaries now that I strictly observe.

When thieves come within a hair of draining high 5 figures from your accounts, you develop a different perspective regarding online security.  You have to.

I haven't received any phishing calls here in the DR -- well, I have, but they're all in Spanish and I just wear them out speaking English.  Maybe they're legit, maybe not.  I don't care.  If they don't know me well enough to know I'm still weak in Español,  they really have no business with me.

But I receive 5-7 phishing calls (or other scams) every week back in the US.  Do you know how many times I've overdrawn my accounts at Wells Fargo in the last year?  At least a dozen times, which is remarkable, since we closed those accounts about 15 months ago.  Thank goodness those friendly folks with mild foreign accents -- but always named Greg, Thomas or Daniel, and always men, for some strange reason -- are so concerned about protecting my money!!  All I have to do is give them my credit card # so they can "bring my accounts into balance," and all will be well.  Suuuuure.

I have Lifelock monitoring my data out on the dark web.  It is scary how much is out there.. but it still helps to know what your current contact info is. So, I choose to protect mine.

I don't believe it inappropriate to require a requester to at least provide their own email address before I reveal mine. And to have a reasonable track record on this forum.

Others may think that is overkill -- maybe it is. BUT, I'd rather be way too conservative, than not.   Again, I've been down this road already, and don't want to do it again.

Best to all.
