Return to Vietnam

mmetca

I moved to Vietnam last December. I was living on Phu Qouc until I broke ankle, foot and had to fly back to the States for surgery. How can I return?

As mentioned in other posts...you cant, unless you meet certain criteria set out by the government.

Now is not a good time to come back here.  One of my friends flew back last month, the quarantine cost him $7,000.  Then, you will have to deal with the visa thing, which is no fun at the moment.

My suggestion to you is to keep your ears to the ground and come when Covid subsides.  If not, it will cost you quite a bit, and all you will get is frustration.  Best wishes.

If you really wish to return to Vietnam, you can enter as an expert which requires you to have a sponsor company in Vietnam that will be responsible for obtaining all approvals for your entry. Otherwise, just wait until the borders are fully open to tourists.

STOP posting incorrect information.

You are a commercial visa agent, so you should be up to date on the current situation:

"PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered a temporary halt to all inbound international commercial flights following Vietnam’s new Covid-19 community transmissions.

"He said at a cabinet meeting Tuesday that only repatriation flights will be allowed to bring home Vietnamese citizens.

"Mai Tien Dung, head of the government office, said the suspension aims to give Vietnam better control over the spread of infection and quarantining of arrivals.

"'The government will still allow repatriation flights to bring home those who are really old, sick or facing financial issues', Dung said."

You can check this explanation by a reputable lawyer in Vietnam, Linh Tran.

[With regards to the suspension of Commercial Flight announced by the P.M. of Vietnam from 1st of December 2020]:
- According to various news channels and the announcement made on the Ministry of Health of Vietnam (link at the bottom of this post), all commercial flights to Vietnam has been suspended;
- One of the most popular questions since is that: does that affect my entry to Vietnam which I already/will book the ticket, hotel, quarantine bus etc.? To know it, keep on reading:
1. Commercial flight means flight between VN and one of the 6 countries in the travel bubble, which was announced in September 2020;
2. There were only TWO successful commercial flights since September (both from South Korea to VN) before it was temporarily halted due to complaint by the passengers about the high price of hotel, quarantine issue after landing;
3. What most people have been using to enter VN recently, is cargo flight and charter flight so they could enter VN as expert/ business owner/ partner etc.
Therefore, if you are already on the list of People's Committee approval and got the visa approval letter already, and ready to be on your way to VN, don't be worried that your flight will be canceled for this "suspension" whatsoever.

I see that you are American. Here's a recent article about 64 nations where Americans can travel now:

No, Vietnam is not on the list.
