Buying Ipad in US or in Vietnam?

NashCat

Planning to buy an Ipad for a friend in Vietnam. Not sure if I should buy it here in US or in Vietnam. What's the cost in VN and warranty issue, and which would a Vietnamese prefer?

An Apple refurbished Ipad is the way to go.  I bought one for a friend a month ago and it was great.  I saved some bucks, too.

How much is it in vietnam?

Depending on the model...  But, the cheapest will be Apple's retail + 10%, if you can find one.

Definitely expensive in Vietnam. Think I'll buy it here. Coming first time to VN, called me ignorant but how does Vietnamese afford one considering their income?

They have other bonuses.  ;)

Had my chinese-made "lightning wire" to charge the iPhone gone tango-uniform on me in Vietnam few weeks ago and got a new one from an official apple retailer (Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, D3) and the price was an equivalence of 28USD..It's sold for 18 in the US.

Avoid buying anything Apple in VN if you have the option to pick it up in US.

it equates to your one week's wages
it equates to their three to six months
(less bonus/incentives/family contributions: local and overseas. Vietnamese are resourceful people!)
(BTW you are entitled to carry TWO iphones when you arrive.) :|

You can get away with carrying as many iphones as you have pockets as long as they are out of the box. I brought 4 iphones and 2 ipads over from the US in November and they were just placed in my backpack.
