Gerre Thornhill said. . . . You are right about medicare advantage policy didnt cover your care in 2019 it was not passed until 2022 and now they do cover some of the Medicare advantage plans as i too have AARP United Healthcare Advantage plan and most if not all the hospitals cover my policy since 2022 when it was passed to cover because there are so many retired Philippinos and American coming back to live in the Philippines like myself.

After reading your post and doing an exhausted search at AARP United Health Care (United Health Care) I cannot find any reference to what you've  posted.

This would be of significant good news to members of this forum who would enroll. Please post where we can find what you were referring to.

Dear Mr. Barraquias,

From some your other posts and have unsuccessfully reached out to other members for medical help . I sympathize with you knowing your father was a patriot that was completely ignored by the U.S. Government.

I'm completely unknowledgeable about benefits to Philippine patriots who worked side by side with the U.S. military during WWII.

Maybe someone on this forum has knowledge on fulfilling your quest.

@Enzyte Bob

Gerre Thornhill

@Enzyte Bob you can look it up from st lukes posts in manila about expat medical care being covered now with medicare from america thats how i found it and used it for surgery. I had an angioplasty so i dont have any idea what your doing or how your asking google but find another way of asking or better yet just call st luke admissions and ask them and get the word from the horses mouth. Good luck.

Gerre Thornhill

@Enzyte Bob  you call also go to guam for treatment.  That was where i was going to be my choice but my doctor here in bicol told me that they take my aarp united healthcare at st lukes but if you ask google it will list all the hospital that except our aarp united healthcare advantage plan for payment. It looked like over 50 or more places.

I find some inconsistencies from this posting compared to the original postings and post #47.

(1) You said you have AARP Medicare Advantage (United Health Care)

(2) You had angioplasty surgery using Medicare

(3) Medicare advantage is not Medicare,

Besides United Healthcare the following companies also have advantage plans: Aetena, Humana and Cigna. They all absolve Medicare for your healthcare.

Now I also had a plan covered by United Health Care (Senior Dimensions) I had stents installed.

(1) They had their own medical facilities, I could only go to theirs with their doctors.

(2) My primary Doctor had to approve me seeing a cardiologist.

(3) The cardiologist had to get approval from United Health Care for Stent procedure.

(4) The procedure was arranged with a hospital that United Health Care is associated with.

(5) All this in the USA not the Phillipines.

Looking at another post of yours #47 you said your plan is accepted at 50 or more places. You said your Doctor in Bicol said St. Lukes takes your AARP Insurance.

Better get another Doctor who is more knowledgeable. If I was to get the information from the Horses mouth like you suggest, The Horse would tell me not to listen to you.

The thing about going to Guam is: USA-Guamian Heart patients are permitted to have medicare-covered treatment in the Philippines because of substandard or lack of care in Guam.

And if they don’t peg out from a heart attack they will probably die from snake bite. 😬

Gerre Thornhill

@mcreybarraquias8      Just call admissions at the hospital at st. Lukes and ask them i have an advantage policy but they take more than just my plan.

Why should mcreybarraquias8 call St. Lukes ?

.

You said you were treated at St. Lukes and paid with your AARP Insurance.

.

So you're telling everyone you had angioplasty at St. Lukes  (post #46) with your AARP Insurance. You just presented your AARP in admissions and they accepted it?

.

Or upon discharge you presented your AARP card and all was well?

.

My experience before surgery for my wife we had to pay cash before her procedure and payment in Full for other services before she was allowed to be discharged.

That is exactly our experience as well. Some of these claims sound a bit like story telling (ie BS) to be perfectly honest. Medicare B is not Advantage so don't say they accepted Medicare.

The Advantage HMO might refund you some of your expenses while traveling (but officially, not as a resident here just a short term traveler) but if you get that money it will be maybe 4-6 weeks after checking out. You will have to come up with payment in full before they do any work or let you leave the hospital. You cannot just show an AARP card and expect the Philippine provider to take assignment from some US insurer in Philippine pesos; that will only work for invoices in US dollars.  how do they handle currency exchange and SWIFT international money transfers? So it seems to be piling high and deep around here.

@Tsmslf where in the website you found this information? I'm looking and I can't find it.
