Looking for Gym by MaikHH
Can anybody recommend a good gym near to thonglor or sukhumvit, but with daily or monthly membership? I found a few good gyms around but all offer 1 or half a year membership. This is too long for me, I wanna be more flexible. Does anybody know ...

Yes, whey and other supplements here are outrageously expensive. I haven't found a retail outlet that sells them cheap -- I think the Thai Food & Drug part of the government puts a high tax on these kinds of things for some reason. My only ... Read More

I was looking for the same thing a couple years ago and wasn't very successful. Most large gyms either don't have a daily/weekly/monthly rate, or if they do it's so outrageous that it's not even worth considering. A few things you can try: 1) ... Read More

Your Experiences Learning the Thai Language by thetefldon
Given that I live in a country with a different languge to my own native English I feel obliged to learn the language. For me it has not been easy and I am far from fluent. However I have found that since I have started to learn to read Thai that ...

I started with 90 hours of beginner speaking Thai, and am just finishing 90 hours of reading/writing. For me, the speaking was/is difficult for two reasons: 1) I didn't force myself to practice speaking it with Thais as much as I should, and 2) ... Read More

Looking for a fitness Center in Bangkok by enara.escobosa
Hey everybody! I would like to go to a fitness center in Bangkok, near an MRT STATION and good price if possible. Any recommendation? If its frequented both by thai and expats much better! Thank you!!! Enara

It's probably worth trying to speak with a different person there. It sounds like there was likely some confusion. If you want to buy just a 1-month membership, I think that is 5000 baht. But they certainly shouldn't charge you that as a joining fee ... Read More

For a 4-month membership, it's 8000 baht total. The 1-year membership is around 1,500 per month I think. They will tell you there's a "joining fee" up front, but then they immediately drop that as a "discount" so you think you're getting a better ... Read More

I think most of the California WOW centers have closed due to bankruptcy. I go to True Fitness in the Exchange building across the street from MRT Sukhumvit station and BTS Asoke. It's a large club, good equipment, and a fair number of expats. ... Read More

Good markets with vegetarian / soy products
Relatively new here, and looking for a grocery store/market that has a decent selection of vegetarian packaged/frozen items. Specifically, I'm looking for soy-based products, like soy burgers, soy sausages, etc. I've found a few places that carry ... Read More

Thai Language Courses by Clare BKK
Hi All I'm an english girl have just been in Bangkok for a few weeks and really want to start learning thai, i have only very basic speaking at the moment. Could anyone recommend a language school or someone they know to teach 2 adults for a few ...

I'm taking lessons from Thai Language Hut on Sukhumvit soi 43. I've been very happy with them so far. You have your own teacher, and you can set up however many hours per week and whatever times work best. And you can do it in person or via Skype. Read More

Short-term apartment rental
I'm coming back to BKK in early March for 2 to 3 months, and hopefully sometime after that (next fall) will return to become an actual expat. I'm looking to rent a studio or 1br apartment from March through the end of April, possibly longer into ... Read More
